CLUB HISTORY
The club was formed on a wet Wednesday afternoon in 1993 by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic fencers with nowhere to go.

Having survived the rigours of several church halls, schools, and other venues, we moved to our existing gym seven years ago (see “where to find us”)

This has been extremely successful, and we are pleased to have influenced the use of our hall for a major annual fencing tournament, the Merseyside Open. (see www. MOFT.co.uk) and also the Phoenix Foil competition (www.phoenixfencing.com)

Fencing attracts people for many reasons, and while some members are competitive, and have achieved considerable success in national and international competitions, others enjoy the social aspects of the club and the easy camaraderie and friendships which strangely seem to spring from attacking each other with swords!

The club has risen  from its humble beginnings and thanks to the coaching skills of Mike Creech,  James Selby , David Stobbs, and the current skills of top Latvian coach Valeriys Shchipanovs, has achieved the distinction of being one of the largest and most successful clubs in the UK, while still remaining friendly and social.

Fencing is very enjoyable as well as being good physical and mental exercise, and in addition to the exercise it is a good opportunity to meet new people.
And attack them with a sword.
Can’t do that in a pub, can you?
